Being part of a warborne community means you come from a place that is, or was, ravaged by war. These groups might be composed of civilians who live in an active warzone, soldiers who served together in the armed forces, or citizens of nations that have been in conflict for decades. Whether civilian or military, warborne are typically skilled in self-defense, even if their tactics are focused on avoidance rather than offensive action.

Warborne defending their homeland are known for using their environment to their advantage, while invading warborne might rely entirely on their military might. No matter their origin, the life of a warborne is defined at least in part by resourcefulness. Those who live in an occupied territory might need to undertake massive reconstruction efforts to repair and preserve homes, farms, workplaces, or cultural monuments—the remnants of one building often become the materials to repair another. Meanwhile, warborne who are part of an invading army typically carry few personal possessions and must rely on scavenging the warzones they occupy. Whether they find themselves on the winning or losing side of a conflict, those from warborne communities are likely to bear trauma for the rest of their lives, their sense of safety and mortality forever marred by the mass casualties and destruction of war.
